Best private equity CRM is decided by one thing more than any other: how large a relationship network the firm has to hold, and whether it is larger than the partners can keep in their heads. That is what separates the products that read your email from the ones that do not, and it is a real difference in price. We sell a product in this category and are not in the list below. Three named products and the fit each is built for.
Best private equity crm: the ranking, and the criterion
- Affinity: Relationship intelligence built on the firm's own email and calendar, so the network is mapped without anybody maintaining it. Judged on fit for a firm whose edge is a large network it cannot hold in its head.
- DealCloud by Intapp: A configurable deal platform for firms with an administrator to shape it. Judged on fit for a firm that has somebody to own the configuration and wants it to match an existing process.
- 4Degrees: A lighter relationship and pipeline record aimed at smaller private capital teams. Judged on fit for a desk that wants the shape without an implementation project.
The criterion: is the network bigger than the partners can hold?
A firm whose flow comes from a few dozen known sources does not need software to tell it who knows whom, and paying for relationship intelligence there is an expensive answer to a problem nobody has. A firm with hundreds of relationships across many partners cannot maintain that map by hand, and that is where the automatic mapping earns its price.
The second question: who configures it?
Configurable platforms fit exactly and need an owner who understands both the tool and the business. Firms with that person get an excellent result; firms who had that person and lost them get a system nobody can change. Name the person before signing, or buy something with opinions.
What every one of them should be asked about passes
Most of what a fund sees, it declines. Ask what a passed deal looks like eighteen months later and whether the reason is still attached, because that record is the most reusable asset in the pipeline and several products treat a pass as a deletion.
The front office is not the back office
None of these is fund administration. Fund accounting, LP reporting, portfolio monitoring and the return metrics are a different product with a different buyer, usually the CFO. A vendor claiming both is either expensive or doing one of them thinly, and the honest question is which half they were built for.

Only if the network is larger than the partners can hold in their heads. Below that it solves a problem you do not have.
Why is Mandatzo not listed?

Does any of these do LP reporting?
Fund administration is a different product with a different buyer. Treat a vendor claiming both with the question of which half they were built for.
